Did you read the front page of the MRT this morning? 'MISD board dis. Cusses details of potential bond' I read it and I am totally dismayed. The board has its head in the frac sand. I can tell you right now – I have never, never voted against a bond that was presented by any government entity in Midland.

I will ardently oppose this Sports, Parking and Cafeteria bond. I really don't care if Midland drops to 4A or even 1A sports. I don't really care if either high school produces a district or cross-town title. I want the board to focus on what the heck they are going to do about kids learning to read, write and make money change or measure sticks infractions. I am appalled that they would consider sports or parking in this bond. Sports come and go.
We use to park where ever we could find a spot. Now kids get to decorate assigned parking. I care that the kids are getting educated and not catered to. Kids are not really challenged in school.
No kid fails. Tests are dummy proofed according to one high school teacher I spoke with. 'Our value and tenure as a teacher are dependent upon kids passing regardless of being educated'. I flunk kids who don't put forth the effort I might not get a new contract.
We have to tolerate misbehavior And so on. MRT — you should put an investigative reporter on this and get the facts out. If we don't give these young people expectations of what to learn and how to behave in society (they are in a micro-society) they will be crippled (educationally challenged) and it will be our fault. Look below at the 'Bulletproof Backpack'.
We are the cause of this!
